Wow. Adam and I had decided last year to start celebrating the 12 days of Christmas, including not decorating the house until Christmas Eve. For us it was a measure of not adding to the already Great Burden of Busyness that is the month of December.
It's good to know there is some good historical/theological context we can put this is as well.
