If You Give a Mouse a Cookie... (with apologies to Laura Numeroff)

If you keep in touch with old friends (he was in our wedding 20 years ago),
Chances are...
Someday they'll come to visit you.
They'll tell you all about their life in Shanghai, where they've been for the past two years.
You'll all share the amazing things God has done in your lives, and try to remember how long it's been since you've been together.
You'll reminisce about old times.
The men will remember how they both loved playing ultimate frisbee back in college.
They'll make a plan for Papa Rooster to come home early from work to play ultimate, after they spend the first part of the day with some other friends.
It's a family they got to know while they were living in Shanghai.
They'll remember that this family has 6 kids and they homeschool, just like you.
So they'll call you while they're at a park playing baseball with the other family and offer to come and get some of your kids to join them.
You accept, of course, since you're busy making dinner.
Later they'll call and suggest that Papa Rooster come there to play ultimate, since it'll be really great with so many teenagers.
Papa Rooster has a blast; he is thrilled to discover he can still keep up with the younger crowd.
The younger crowd discovers they are all kindred spirits and don't want to separate.
So someone calls and asks how it would be if the other family joined us for dinner too.
You really would love to meet them, so you gulp and say, "Absolutely!"
They pick up some extra chicken and you add some more lettuce to the salad.
(Fortunately, you have plenty of corn on the cob and a huge tub of ice cream.)
Everyone gets plenty to eat and you love the other family.
You think that maybe you should get together with them again sometime, since they don't live too far away.
You learn they are going back to Shanghai in a week and a half.
So you trade email addresses and blog info. So do all the kids.
You all say you'll keep in touch.
Because when you keep in touch with old friends...
You never know what will happen!

You really don't need to apologize to Laura Numeroff - you have that circular tale concept down pat :)
