Works for Me Wednesday #7

We probably all know how to clean our rings (if you don't, here's a good article), but this suggestion is for a quick fix between regular cleanings.

Since the primary thing that dulls the shine on your diamond or other gemstone is grease, run HOT WATER--get it as hot as you can--over your ring, especially the underside where dirt tends to accumulate. (Take it off, of course--and cover the drain.)

It'll help immediately!

And don't forget when soaking your rings for a real cleaning, to use HOT water. If you go with the half ammonia, half water solution, you can microwave it to boiling, or microwave a cup of water and add a little dishwashing detergent. A jeweler once told me that it is a good idea to heat the solution for your ultrasonic cleaner, if you have one.

Hot water for a quick fix cleaning--it works for me!

Great tip. I have an ultrasonic cleaner and it works OK, maybe this will make all the difference!

I started reading and thought, "You clean your rings?" Then I got down to the part about the stones. Ahh. I only wear my wedding band, and I keep it on all the time. I guess I've never really thought about cleaning it separately.
