One of my favorite tricks is to make consumable workbooks reusable by covering the page with a report cover and filling in the blanks with a dry-erase marker.
Especially in the early grades, my kids have thought it was more fun to write with a marker than with a pencil. Then, when they got to an age where they started begging to use a pencil--second or third grade--it was such a big deal to have their very own, I-get-to-write-in-it! workbook.

Good tip! My 7-year-old still likes to write on his marker board, and that's how he does his spelling words. It's nice to erase and start over!
