On the Road Again

"Dad?" Blondechick15 called from the back row of our 15-passenger van.

"Yes?" he called back, as we paused in the conversation we were having.

"Bantam12 and I were just talking about how excited we are to be going to church in Kenosha this morning. It seems like it's been a long time!"

And it has. We missed the last two Sundays because of visitors and Godspell--and I missed the two Sundays before that for fear of iminent miscarriage. (Spending three hours in a van didn't seem like such a good idea in that situation.)

And it was so good to be back. Good to see everyone, good to be back in church as a family again--good to be in Kenosha again!

I don't know if it's because of our happy return today...or because our realtor friend told us about a house there...or because we're focusing this week on getting our house finished and putting it on the market again....

But I just can't wait to move.

I really, REALLY want to move. NOW.

Whether we sell our house or not.

Can't we just...move?

But no. A bridge loan would be foolish in this uncertain time in the real estate market. Renting out our current house would prohibitively limit how much house we could afford to buy there--to the point that it's an unworkable idea.

But I WANT TO MOVE! I don't want to spend any more time, energy or money on this house. (How about on my new house, Lord?) I dread the coming weeks (months?--please no) of keeping a house perfectly show-ready at all times. (How about you send us buyers the first weekend, huh, Lord?)

Pray for me, friends. After months of divine contentment with our situation (bless the Lord), I'm suddenly having patience problems.

One Sunday morning on the way to Kenosha for church, Chicklet5 asked:

"Are we in California yet?"

Oh, Lord...sometimes our destination seems about that far away.

Could you just wake me up when we get there?

Yes, Jeanne, a privilege to pray with you... to pray for peace and patience... and to enjoy the process.
To rest in the gift of now, isn't that always the struggle?
So with you...
And send so much love...
Ann

Been there, prayed that, waited, wilted.

But then suddenly the invisible becomes apparent and all is set in double time motion. I'll be praying for Christ's peace to fill you. You remember the line of the hymn--"Be still, my soul; Thy God doth undertake to guide thy future as He has the past." The sovereignty you see as you look behind is going ahead of you, ordering events, timing and provision.

Wish we all could commiserate from a nearer distance. Maybe a little trip to New England would ensure that the house stays pristine for a few weeks??

Love,
Nancy
