First Snow

First Snow

Lighter than thistledown
Blown by a fairy,
Fine flakes of snow fall through
Space grey and airy.

Whiter than lily that
Blows sweet in summer,
This first snow of winter,
This gentle newcomer.

his has been my favorite poem about snow since the seventies. Conjures up the most beautiful soft images!
