Sixth Sunday of Easter
O God, you have prepared for those who love you such good things as surpass our understanding: Pour into our hearts such love towards you, that we, loving you in all things and above all things, may obtain your promises, which exceed all that we can desire; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

I ws doing some research for a presentation on the Prayer Book and was astonished to find out how old some of these prayers are. This collect for the Sixth Sunday of Easter dates back some 1400 years to the seventh century Missale Gothicum and Missle Francorum, two collections of litugical prayers for use in the churches of what is now France and Germany.
Wow!!!

Barbara--
That IS a wow! I thought they were only as old as Cranmer. Thanks for the insight!
