That would be me this week, trying to pull together the last details for the Makeup Committee for The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. I've been on the phone recruiting and contacting volunteers, emailing numerous details to parents and kids, and shopping for makeup brushes, noses, pots of varied colors, and a Gandalf wig from which we shall construct a very long beard for a very short Dwarf. Dress rehearsals (with full makeup) begin next Tuesday. Have I mentioned that we have 89 kids in the cast, only 7 of which are cast as humans? Yeah, I thought so.
At the last Parent Meeting someone asked me about their child's hairstyle for their character--and I thought hair? I have to think about hair? Oh yes I do!
I have a committee and they're great. It's just that we're pulling off this show in a mere five weeks, and I feel like I've been two steps behind the whole way. A few of us did have a great designing session last week, and tomorrow night we're having a training session for all the volunteers I've recruited to come do "just one animal face." (Don't expect any pictures though--I'll wait till I can take some of them in full costume and makeup next week at the Dress Rehearsal.) We have 23 Animals to do, including Mr. and Mrs. Beaver, Aslan, and Fenris Ulf, and not including Mr. Tumnus and the other two Fauns. We also have Hags, Ogres, Dwarves, Cruelies, Fairies, Woodland Maidens, Elves, assorted Good Narnians....
After tomorrow night, maybe I'll get a chance to prepare to be gone for Crazy Week--two dress rehearsals and five performances in five days. And my parents are coming from Ohio for the fifth one.
I'll try to carve out a path to the bed in the guest room for ya, Mom and Dad. I think there are sheets already on it!
